Jenny Nunn
My background is in marketing and tourism having worked for large European tour operators such as DFDS Scandinavian Seaways, Bridge Travel Group and DER Deutsches Reiseburo. This was an incredible time as early on in my career I witnessed the fall of the Iron Curtain first hand, highlighting the innumerable opportunities this emerging market had to offer the British traveller for the first time.
To Devon, and Seaton Tramway, where I started as Commercial Manager seventeen years ago and have been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for the past fifteen. The Tramway, with lots of challenges along the way, made a bold £3m investment in its new station at Seaton, completed in Spring 2018 which, in spite of a pandemic, has been a major success story together with excellent teamwork and creativity. Furthermore, I have worked closely with Rail Events Incorporated, which operates under licence from Warner Bros, The Polar Express™ Train Ride Experience. The event has gone from strength to strength with over 1.2 million passengers reported in the USA, UK and Canada.
Previously a long-standing member of the Business Development Committee, I am currently involved in the HRA Awards Panel, celebrating the fabulous work our members do in a tough environment. I am also an officer of Fedecrail involved in their Tramway, Communications and Youth Programme Groups.
I believe that together and with a bit of hard work HRA and its members can make heritage railway attractions a credible alternative in the Days Out market, thus increasing footfall and visitor spend for all types of rail heritage attractions.
