Railway 200 - New Year whistle event
We want to start Railway 200 off as it should go on, by getting as many heritage railways involved as possible. We’re starting that by reviving an old tradition dating back the days of steam. The year will kick-off with an evocative ‘Whistle-Off’ of vintage locomotives at 12 noon on 1 January. The event is expected to take place on heritage railways across the U.K. and is being spearheaded by Heritage Railway Association members.
This will be a great chance to tell your visitors and stakeholders (and potential visitors or stakeholders) that you’re a part of Railway 200. It’ll look great on social media, and might even be of interest to your local broadcast media too.
It’s not just about steam. We’re keen that every heritage railway or tramway gets involved. So if you’ve got a horn or a bell rather than a whistle on your motive power – don’t worry; this event is still for you.
